What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a popular new service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear.
How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
Properly applied extensions should last as long as your natural lash life cycle, anywhere from 3-8 weeks depending on the individual. Of course rubbing or pulling will make them shed quicker. Aftercare is the key to longevity. An infill every 2-3 weeks is recommended.
How long will it take to apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done?
The application process for lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 45 min. - 1.5 hours with someone who is experienced doing these. If you go to a newly certified professional it may take up to 3 hours. You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis.
What should I do to prepare for the procedure?
Please refrain from applying eye makeup prior to coming in for the procedure. The extensions are connected with glue and therefore any debris may shorten the lifecycle of the extensions and cause them to fall off earlier. In the case makeup application is inevitable, we do have makeup remover and face wash available at our office for your convenience.
We recommend that you remove your contact lenses prior to receiving the procedure because your eyes will be closed while receiving your eyelash extensions and your contact lens may cause eye dryness. Removing contacts will remarkably increase comfort level.
How do I choose the look I want?
Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. We normally consult with you first to see what type of style you are interested in. We also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size. Each person's lashes will vary in strength and length. We take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the lashes is very natural.
How often should I get the touch-ups?
We recommend getting a touch up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 - 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as exposure to steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that have fallen. Touch ups average about 45 minutes.
Can I swim, shower, exercise or visit spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend however that you do not wash your eye area for about 3 hours after the eyelash application. Semi-Permanant Makeup
what is semi-permanant makeup?
Semi-permanent makeup is a type of treatment that replicates perfectly applied conventional makeup, most frequently on the eyebrows, eyeliner (lash line), and lips. The procedure is done by inserting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. It is also known as Permanent Makeup, Micro-Pigmentation, Brow Embroidery, and Cosmetic Tattooing.
How long does the result last?
Eyebrows and lips generally last up to a year; for eyeliner, two to three years. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results and highly recommended. If done correctly, the treatments do not change color and fade naturally with time. For areas like eyebrows and lips, this fading allows future flexibility with shape and or color, as standards of beauty change.
How painful is the treatment?
We use very effective numbing creams that are FDA approved. On a scale of 1 to 10 with “1” being no discomfort, clients often experience between 2 or 3. Some factors such as menstrual cycles and skin type can also affect level of sensitivity.
Is it safe?
All our pigments are cosmetic grade, which means that they are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. All of the ingredients have been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Be wary of products that have not met safety standards, including those that contain “vegetable dyes” that are unstable and may change color over time. In addition, all our tools are sterilized, single use needles, and they are discarded after the treatment. Our specialists are highly trained, experienced professionals, and licensed by NYS Department of State, Division of Licensing Services.
WHat happens during a brow treatment?
The technician will create your brow by hand, strand by strand. A topical numbing cream is applied; the cream is generally effective for 20 minutes, and then a special tool is used to make small, hair-shaped incisions in the skin on the brow line(this is also known as Microblading). These shallow cuts are then filled with the highest grade pharmaceutical pigments selected to match or darken arches. The treatment takes about two hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.
What is the recovery time?
There is no downtime, however the brows will take about one week to fully heal. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed.
What is the perfecting session?
The Perfecting Session, done within one months of the initial treatment, is extremely important to ensure perfect results. We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed.
If i don't live in ny and cannot return within two months for the perfecting session, how will this affect results?
Some of our tourist clients do not have the flexibility to return within two months for the Perfecting Session. Please call us or come in for a consultation and we can discuss further options catered to your situation.
